Hi, I'm Jack Marcisz, the creative force behind By The Hand. With a passion for traditional craftsmanship and 10+ years experience in the woodworking industry, I draw inspiration from design legends like Eames, Dieter Rams, and Raymond Loewy. What fuels my dedication? The transformation of raw materials into something both beautiful and functional.
In a world where minimalism often overshadows character, I find beauty in simplicity while cherishing the intricate details reminiscent of the arts and crafts movement. Collaborating directly with clients is my favourite part of the process - I love hearing your ideas, understanding your vision, and bringing it to life through bespoke designs.
Humble Beginnings.
Jack was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada with his family when he was just a baby. He was the first person in his family to graduate from University and his dedication and hard-work never slowed.
Our life is a result of his incredible work ethic. What started as a dream has become our reality and we are grateful each and every day.
Jack was studying design and furniture-making when we learned of various manufacturing processes, sustainable vs. unsustainable materials, and the disposal process.
It was clear that the mass amount of items shipped in from overseas are hugely contributing to the mountains of waste on our planet. To us, that is an unsustainable and completely unacceptable practice.
We knew what we had to do:
